What the work is like
Managed IT for organizations of 5 to 200 people is varied. In a single week you might help an accountant recover a deleted file, enrol a batch of new laptops in Intune, trace a Wi-Fi problem at a construction site office, and document a firewall change. The common thread is responsibility: owning a problem through to resolution and leaving a clear record behind.
Because our customers are small and mid-sized organizations, you deal with real people rather than anonymous ticket queues. Explaining technical issues in plain language to an office manager or business owner matters as much as fixing them.
Skills the work involves
Help desk and troubleshooting
Patient, methodical diagnosis of user problems across Windows, macOS, mobile devices and common business applications.
Microsoft 365 administration
Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID and Intune, including licensing and security settings.
Networking and infrastructure
Firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPNs and Windows Server, with an understanding of how they fit together.
Security practice
Multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, patching discipline and recognizing signs of compromise.
Documentation and communication
Writing clear ticket notes, procedures and summaries that a colleague or customer can follow.
