IT support built around jobsites, field crews and project files

General contractors, builders and trades run their business from trailers, trucks and temporary sites as much as from an office. We manage the devices, accounts, connectivity and file collaboration that keep estimators, superintendents and crews working from the same current information.

Illustrative scene: a construction project manager in appropriate protective hard hat reviewing a rugged tablet at an orderly active construction site.

Technology challenges specific to construction

Construction IT is less about the office and more about everything that happens away from it.

  • Temporary sites that need a connection fast

A new project often starts before a wired internet service can be installed. Site trailers rely on LTE or 5G routers, shared hotspots or fixed wireless, and someone has to choose, configure, secure and later decommission that equipment.

  • Shared and rugged field devices

Tablets and rugged phones are passed between foremen, left in trucks and exposed to dust and weather. Without device management, nobody knows who has which device, whether it is encrypted, or what account is signed in.

  • Seasonal crews and high staff turnover

Labourers, apprentices and subcontractor coordinators join and leave on project timelines. Accounts are created in a hurry and are rarely removed promptly, which leaves old logins active in email, file shares and project platforms.

  • Large drawings and constantly revised documents

Drawing sets, shop drawings, RFIs and submittals change daily. Field staff working from an outdated revision is a costly mistake, and large PDFs and models sync slowly over a cellular connection.

  • Estimating and accounting software on specific machines

Estimating, takeoff and job-costing applications are often licensed to particular workstations or users, depend on a local database, and need careful handling during upgrades or laptop replacements.

Where construction companies are most exposed

  • Payment and invoice fraud: attackers impersonate suppliers or subcontractors and request changes to banking details for progress payments and holdbacks
  • Lost or stolen tablets and laptops from vehicles and unsecured site trailers, with project data and saved passwords on them
  • Former employees and subcontractors who still have access to email, shared folders or the project management platform
  • Unsecured jobsite Wi-Fi or cellular routers left with default passwords, shared openly with visitors and trades
  • Single copies of estimates, bids and project records on one estimator’s laptop with no tested backup
  • Bid deadlines missed because a key workstation, licence or connection failed at the wrong moment

Microsoft 365 for office and field teams

Most construction firms already pay for Microsoft 365 but use only email. We help you organize SharePoint and Teams by project so drawings, RFIs, photos and meeting notes live in one place with permissions that match the project team. When a project closes, the site can be archived and access removed without hunting through personal OneDrive folders.

Where you use a dedicated construction management platform such as Procore or a similar tool, we do not replace it. We coordinate single sign-on where supported, make sure the accounts that connect to it are protected with multifactor authentication, and set clear rules about which documents live in the platform and which live in SharePoint. For field staff who only need email, Teams and mobile access, we help select licence types that suit their role instead of assigning the most expensive plan to everyone.

Keeping projects moving when something fails

Continuity planning for a construction company focuses on bids, payroll and site access.

  • A backup internet option at head office so estimating and accounting continue during an outage
  • Spare pre-configured cellular routers and a documented process to bring a new site online in hours rather than days
  • Cloud backup of Microsoft 365 mail, Teams and SharePoint project sites, separate from Microsoft’s own retention
  • Image or file backups of estimating and job-costing data, with a tested restore to a replacement machine
  • A contact list and runbook for bid days, month-end and payroll so staff know who to call and what to do

Security controls that fit how crews work

  • Multifactor authentication using an authenticator app or hardware key, including for superintendents and part-time users
  • Conditional access rules that block sign-ins from unexpected countries and unmanaged devices where appropriate
  • A documented call-back procedure for any request to change supplier or subcontractor banking details
  • Automatic screen lock, disk encryption and remote wipe on every field laptop, tablet and phone
  • Prompt account removal when a worker or subcontractor leaves, triggered by a simple request form
  • Short, practical phishing awareness training focused on invoice fraud and fake document-sharing links

How we work with a construction company

  1. Walk through the office and the field

We learn how many sites are active, what connectivity each uses, which software estimators and project managers depend on, and how crews receive drawings.

  2. Document and secure the basics

We inventory users, devices and accounts, close dormant logins, enable multifactor authentication and bring field devices under management.

  3. Standardize site start-up and shutdown

We create a checklist for opening a site network, issuing devices and onboarding crew accounts, and the reverse for project close-out.

  4. Organize project files

We set up a consistent SharePoint and Teams structure for projects and an archive process for completed work.

  5. Support and review

Day-to-day help desk under the agreed scope, with quarterly reviews that look ahead to new projects, hires and equipment needs.

What stays with your vendors

Construction management, estimating and accounting platforms remain supported by their vendors. We coordinate with them, manage the devices and accounts that connect to them, and handle installations on covered machines within the agreed scope.

Frequently asked questions

Can you set up internet at a new jobsite?

We can recommend and configure cellular routers, site Wi-Fi and firewall settings, and coordinate with your carrier. The cellular plan or fixed service itself is contracted with the provider, and on-site installation is confirmed for the site address.

How do you handle shared tablets used by several crew members?

We configure shared devices in Microsoft Intune so they run only the apps the crew needs and do not rely on one person’s account. Lost devices can be locked or wiped remotely.

Do you support Procore or our estimating software?

We support the devices, accounts and connectivity those platforms rely on and coordinate with the vendor for application issues. Detailed configuration of the platform itself stays with the vendor or your administrator unless we agree otherwise in writing.

We hire seasonal staff every spring. Can onboarding be faster?

Yes. We create a standard onboarding request, licence assignments by role and pre-configured devices so new crew members can sign in on their first day, and an offboarding process that removes access when they leave.

Do you visit jobsites?

Most work is done remotely. On-site visits in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Calgary are confirmed per address and scope; remote sites may require a separately quoted visit.
