Why start with a health check
When a business has grown through a series of quick fixes, nobody has a complete view of what exists, how old it is, or which piece would cause the most disruption if it failed. The IT Infrastructure Health Check produces that view. It is broader than our other assessments: instead of going deep on one area, it surveys every layer of a typical small business environment and tells you where the real weaknesses are.
The result is written for owners and managers, not only technicians. Each area receives a red, amber or green rating with a plain-language explanation, and the roadmap separates urgent risks from improvements that can wait for next year’s budget. Many customers use the health check as the discovery step before a managed IT proposal, but the findings are yours to act on with any provider.
Deliverables
Health scorecard
A one-page red, amber and green rating across servers, network, endpoints, backup, identity, Microsoft 365, documentation and vendor management.
Asset and lifecycle inventory
Computers, servers, network devices and key software with age, warranty status and end-of-support dates where they can be determined.
Risk register
Each risk rated Critical, High, Medium or Low, with the likely business impact and a recommended action.
12-month roadmap and readout
A sequenced plan grouped by quarter with indicative budget categories, presented in a one-hour readout meeting.
Areas covered
Depth in each area is a survey level. Where a deeper review is warranted, the roadmap names the specific follow-up assessment.
Included
- Servers and storage: operating system support status, disk health, role inventory and single points of failure
- Network: firewall model and firmware age, Wi-Fi layout, switching and internet connection
- Endpoints: sample review of computers for patching, encryption and endpoint protection
- Backup: what is backed up, where copies are kept and whether recent jobs succeeded
- Identity and Microsoft 365: administrator accounts, multifactor authentication coverage and licence overview
- Documentation, passwords storage and vendor contacts
- One on-site walkthrough of the primary location where it is in a confirmed service area
Excluded
- Fixing issues found during the review
- Full configuration audits of each area (available as separate assessments)
- Additional sites beyond the primary location
- Line-of-business application performance tuning
- Penetration testing and vulnerability scanning of external systems
Before we start
- An owner or manager available for a one-hour kickoff interview about how the business uses technology
- Administrator or read-only access to servers, firewall and Microsoft 365, or a person who can show us screens
- Contact details for your current IT provider, internet provider and key software vendors
- Any existing documentation, even if incomplete or out of date
- Permission to install a temporary discovery tool on one computer for inventory collection
Eligibility
Covered by the proposed fixed price
One primary office or work location, up to about 50 users and the equipment that supports them.
Quoted separately
Multiple offices, more than about 50 users, data centre or co-location equipment, or environments with several servers per site.
Location
Remote review is available across Canada. The on-site walkthrough is offered where your address falls within a confirmed service area in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley or Calgary.
Configuration and pricing basis
There is nothing to configure for a standard health check: the proposed price of CAD 699 before tax covers one primary site within the eligibility limits above. That figure is a proposal pending business approval and will be confirmed in a written quotation.
If you have more locations or equipment, we scope the extra effort with you before purchase rather than surprising you afterwards. Where the health check leads into a managed IT plan, the inventory and roadmap become the foundation of the onboarding documentation, so the work is not repeated.
Delivery timeline
A typical timeline is two to three weeks from kickoff. It is an estimate and depends on access and scheduling.
Kickoff interview
We learn how your team works, which systems are critical, and what has gone wrong recently.
Remote discovery
Inventory collection, Microsoft 365 and server checks, and backup job history review.
On-site walkthrough
Where available, a visit to inspect network equipment, server space, cabling and physical security.
Analysis and readout
We score each area, write the risk register and roadmap, and present them in a readout meeting.
Terms
Scope, price and terms are drafts pending business and legal approval and are shown in full before checkout. Findings describe conditions observed during the review period. Lifecycle dates depend on information available from manufacturers and may be incomplete. Taxes are calculated at checkout.
Frequently asked questions
How is the health check different from the other assessments?
It is broad rather than deep. It surveys every layer of your environment and points to the specific assessment, such as backup or network, where a deeper review would be worthwhile.
Do we have to buy managed IT afterwards?
No. The report and inventory are yours. If you later choose a managed IT plan, the findings feed directly into onboarding.
What if we have two offices?
The proposed fixed price covers one primary site. Additional sites are scoped and quoted before you purchase.
Can our current IT provider be involved?
Yes. You can ask your existing provider to grant access and join the kickoff. The review is factual and focused on the environment, not on blame.
Know what you have before you plan what comes next
Request the health check from the store, or book a consultation if you have several sites and need a custom scope.
